Unique Apple Picking

In between General Conference sessions on Saturday we took an outing to a nearby apple orchard that I was wanting to check out. Sadly, it was a huge disappointment, but we had fun anyways. A couple of reasons it was a bust: A lot of the apples were ripe super early in the season this year, so there weren't very many apples to pick. They were ridiculously expensive because they were "organic" which after walking through the "orchard" meant they didn't do anything to help or hinder the apples growth. (I know I'm probably wrong, but if you had seen the place you would know what I mean) Lastly, it looked like a dump. The directions took us to the driveway of a rundown house, which led to a rundown "barn/greenhouse/carport" thing, which led to rundown looking rows of apples. Seriously, there was no where to park but jammed next to the bushes surrounding the house, you really couldn't tell who was in charge and once we did figure it out, they were certainly the hippy type. Ok, I'll stop bashing, but I want to remember how funny of a place it was, and to make it even funnier, the way I found out about it was through groupon! I almost bought a groupon to take a tour of the place! Wow, what a letdown that would have been!!! ha

See the tiny tree frog? I think Sidney spied that with her little eye.

Here's part of the house and then here's some of their garden. The pictures actually make it look not too bad. Nate didn't get a picture of the barn/carport cuz that's where their register was. Another funny story, the man took the kids to see some bunnies that had just been born and they were all snuggled up in the back of some little hut they had made, I am positive that when I looked in there one of the bunnies was lying there dead! The kids were too giddy to notice. Poor bunnies.

Overall it was a funny outing, I was just sad that I hadn't scored a cool place to go pick apples in the future. :(

Taryn Turns Three! Whee!

After much deliberation Taryn decided that a Captain America party was the thing for her. She is very anti-princess right now and refuses princess stickers at the library, free wands from the store, and wont wear anything that might seem too girly. She wants to impress her older brothers I think.

Note the Captain America plush doll (she picked for herself) and shirt (from G and G Berry). She also got a bunch of fun stuff for the bathtub and a new winter coat! Thanks to everyone who sent cards and money!

Here is the Olaf fleece blanket intended to replace the "heart blankie."

Making a wish...and she told us she wished for a cupcake. Well, that wish came true, go figure!

Three cupcakes for an awesome 3 year old. Happy Birthday you cutie pie. We all love you!
Taryn with her Captain America earrings that Bree, Rudd, and Revree gave her. Wearing her Capt. America earrings gets us out of her needing to wear the shirt every. stinkin. day. Thank goodness. :) The little animals were from our next door neighbor friends.

Home Life in October

Taryn and Watts. Sadly, Watts is moving next week and Taryn will have to find a new best friend. I am so sad, and have no idea how we will convince Taryn to go to Nursery anymore.

Taryn had to give up her heart blanket. It was her favorite blankie to hold and cherish and love, and we needed it GONE! It was gross and starting to drive me nuts because it was always everywhere I stepped. We replaced it with a bigger, stay-in-your-bed, Olaf fleece that she can sleep with. The transition was actually very smooth.
Random: but to make a long story short, Taryn's interpretation of what a toot is = a burp in her pants. We all laughed for awhile about that one!
Halloween sugar cookie decorating. Always messy, always fun, always delicious.

We were trying to capture the essence of Ainsley's eating faces. We didn't quite get the one that is my favorite and super funny, but here are a few others.

Favorite after school activity as of late: basketball. We've had some fun family basketball games lately. It's fun that they are getting old enough to play against. Pretty soon, I'm sure, they will be better than me!

TP

Yes, this happened. It may or may not have been because Sidney and I targeted and TP'ed another family a couple months back. I can't wait to get them again, and maybe a few other people as well.
