Introducing Taryn Emma Packard.  Born on October 4, 2012 at 4:10 pm at 8 lbs, 4 oz, 20.5 inches long.

Taryn was "due" this past Sunday, so we had an appointmet for induction at 5:30 am on Thursday. Here is Telisha just before we began. The pitocin started at aroudn 8am, but we did not start seeing consistent contractions until about noon. By around 2 pm she was at a 6 and 90% effaced. At about 3 pm she was at a 9.5 and 100% effaced. The doctor arrived at about 3:30. For those who don't remember or didnt know, forceps were required for the other three kids. We were hopeful that they wouldn't be required this time. The doctor saw the position of the baby and recommended that we try pusing for 2-3 hours before resorting to forceps. I bluntly told him that we didn't want to do that. If we had not had the forceps history with the other three I would have been more willing, but pushing for 2-3 hours did not make sense now. He recommended that we try a few pushes now and see what happens. Telisha pushed hard once, the baby moved a good amount, and the doctor quickly concluded that the baby was ready now and would only take a few more good pushes.  About 5-10 minutes later a beautiful baby girl came out, healthy and happy. What's more is that Telisha never threw up either, which was another happy first.
Here she is. healthy and happy. As you can see her hair is a  pretty and soft brown. Not much, if any red in it. Her eyebrows and other hair are really light though, so we are hoping she will go blond to round out our family hair colors.

Telisha's parents live about 1.5 hours south of us. Her mom stayed the night Wednesday so she was there when we left early. Her dad came up from work at about noon to be here too. We had Sidney stay home from school since we thought Taryn would be here earlier, but it turns out she would not have missed anything. The kids were all very excited, although they still couldn't remember "Taryn" even as they were going to bed last night. Tanner was cute and asked while I was holding Taryn if we could sing her a song. I recommended we the primary song "Families Can Be Together Forever". We all sang and it was beautiful. The nurse told us later that she loved the song and got teary-eyed as we sang it. It was a great, first, family moment.

Telisha is doing really well. She is very excited that she can lay on her back again. She was a trooper these past several months. She did a great job during the delivery and is recovering nicely. Oddly, the nurses told us they would like to discharge us after lunch today (less than 24 hours after delivery). So we will have to head home soon and adjust quickly to the 4-kid routine.

We will post more pics and info as it comes. Thank you for all your prayers and concern.

Owen Learns 2 2-wheel 2!

We figured we'd let Owen have a shot on Sidney's bike a couple of days later, and sure enough he pulled it off.  He's not quite as confident as she is on it, but what a good start!  Now we need to go and get everyone their own bikes!

2 wheelin' it!

Sidney can ride a 2 wheeler!  I know we have other children, but Sidney has just reached so many milestones this summer!  Enjoy the videos.  (And yes, we know the bike is a little small for her  :)

Relaxing at the River

This river is less than a mile from our house and I couldn't be more happy about it.  It's the perfect water level and the kids can throw rocks and dirt wherever they want.  (Which is a big deal for the boys, and me who has to try and control the boys at home!)
I just love the sound of the cool, running water and being in the sun.  Such a relaxing day.

Tooth Fairy Time

Okay, I think her losing her tooth (over starting Kindergarten) was the wake up call for me.  She's not little anymore.  She was so brave she pulled it out all on her own, when it didn't even seem that loose to me.  Whatever works.  She must really have wanted that tooth fairy to come!

Welcome to Lake Stevens!

Yeah, we're here, and I'm so happy!!!  The weather is beautiful, we can almost see the lake from our house, and the bald eagles flying over our heads from time to time just tops it off.  This is the view of our neighborhood from the front of our house.  I'm not giving you a full tour, but here are some pics to give you an idea.  If you want to see all of it, you'll have to come visit!

 Front entry
 Kitchen and dining
 Family/Living Room
Loft upstairs, which can later be turned into a 4th bedroom when we need that more than a toy room. :)
Sidney's room- and soon to be sharing with the baby, which she is so excited for.
Our fun, big backyard!!! Woohoo.  There's even more on the side...
We were so blessed to be led to this house and we can't wait to see what new memories we make here.

Happy 6th Birthday Sidney!

Sidney turned 6 during all the graduation and moving transitions going on.  (Eventually I'll post some pictures about all of that)  She really wanted me to post these pictures and the video of her opening up the huge pad of scrapbook paper that we gave her.  She LOVES paper and craft stuff, so that's what she got, and she was in heaven!!!  My mom and I found this old school desk (the one she's sitting at) at the local Goodwill store in amazing condition and it's just perfect for holding and working on all her projects.

Sidney decided that having some homemade shaved ice would be a good way to celebrate, instead of cake - and we were happy to oblige.
Happy Birthday Sidney Sunshine!

Washington D.C.

Sidney has learned more about the United States of America this year at school, so she really wanted to go and see the White House and the Lincoln Memorial.  We are abt 7 hrs to DC, so it was just too close to pass up the opportunity.  We stayed 2 days and 2 nights and saw a little bit of everything.  Here are some pics: again in no particular order, and taken by everyone in the family.

Nate finally agrees that we might actually have landed on the moon, for real.

I need to count how many pictures I have of Owen doing this.  There would be a lot.
Cold popsicles on a cold day.  What could be more refreshing?
At the DC temple visitor's center, they had a quilt show, so everyone took a picture of their favorite quilt.
This is Sidney's.
Telisha's - I just thought it was funny, because if you look close, they are canning jars all filled with different kinds of food.  I couldn't believe they found that many different kinds of food material.  Pretty cool.
Nate's. I think because it has to do with food.  hehe
